Our privacy principles
Your privacy is important to DIY Home Comfort. Our policy began on May 14, 2023. We explain why personal information is collected and use it for the stated purposes, related purposes, or purposes you authorize or the law requires. We collect information fairly and lawfully, keep it relevant and reasonably accurate, retain it only as needed, and use reasonable safeguards against loss, theft, and unauthorized access or disclosure.
Scope
DIY Home Comfort is a general informational website based in Oregon. We use Google Analytics through Google Tag Manager to understand how visitors use the site. This version does not offer accounts, comments, newsletter subscriptions, surveys, or advertising.
Technical information
When someone visits the site, the services that host, deliver, authenticate, and protect it may receive limited technical request information needed to provide, secure, and troubleshoot the site. This may include an IP address, browser or device information, the requested page, a referring page, date and time, and security or diagnostic events.
We use technical information to operate the website and analytics information to understand readership and improve its content.
Google Analytics and Tag Manager
Google Tag Manager loads our Google Analytics tag when a page opens. Analytics helps us understand page views, visits, traffic sources, and interactions such as scrolling, outbound link clicks, and site searches. Google may process page addresses and titles, referring pages, browser and device details, approximate location, and cookie identifiers. We do not intentionally send the contents of your email messages to Analytics.
Google processes this information to provide analytics reports. Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.
Email contact
The contact page provides an email link rather than a website submission form. Opening the link does not send a message. If you send an email, we receive the address, name, message, and any attachments you include. We use that information to respond, handle corrections or privacy requests, and follow up on your inquiry.
Email is processed by the email services used by you and by our Gmail inbox. Please do not send passwords, payment details, or other sensitive information.
Cookies and similar technologies
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, including cookies whose names begin with _ga, to distinguish visitors and sessions. Hosting and security services may also use cookies or similar identifiers to deliver and protect the site.
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Browser privacy controls and content blockers may limit analytics collection.
Service providers and legal disclosures
Cloudflare provides website hosting and security, Google provides Analytics and Tag Manager, and our email providers process correspondence. These providers may process information as part of delivering their services, including outside your country. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the site, its operators, or its users. We do not sell visitor information.
Retention and security
We retain email correspondence as needed to address the inquiry, maintain relevant records, and meet applicable legal obligations. Technical logs, if maintained by infrastructure providers, are retained according to their operational and security practices. No website or email service can promise perfect security.
Third-party links
The site may link to other websites. Those services have their own privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Children’s privacy
DIY Home Comfort is intended for a general audience of homeowners and is not directed to children. If the site later learns that it has collected information from a child in a way that requires action, it will handle that information as required by applicable law.
Requests, future features, and changes
To ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or ask a privacy question, email scotthardingslc1985@gmail.com. Include enough context to locate the relevant correspondence, but do not send identity documents unless we agree on an appropriate verification method. We may need to verify your request before disclosing or changing personal information.
We do not sell personal information. We will update this policy if the site adds features that collect or use information differently.
